

Ron grew up in the Muskegon area and was 1 of 14 children. He worked as a welder for 37 years at various companies in the Muskegon area. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Muskegon Township Fire department. In his free time, he enjoyed playing softball, hunting, and camping. He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church of Muskegon and was a parishioner there for 20 years. Ron had a love for Ford Trucks and loved to take photos of his red Ford Ranger. He had a knack for nicknames, and gave a unique name to everyone in his family. His greatest passion was his lawn. Ron loved spending time outdoors and working on his yard. He often got compliments on the roses that bloomed in his yard every year. Above all, Ron was a family man. He cherished his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ron was preceded in death by: parents, Martin and Viola Herzhaft; son, Daniel Herzhaft; siblings, Kenny, JoAnn, "Jug", Margaret, John, Phyllis, Phillip, and Barbara; and special friend, Gary Gilchrist.
Ron is survived by: wife, Marlene Herzhaft; daughter, Ronda (John) Fisher; grandchildren, Jeromie (Becca) Herzhaft, Adam Fisher, Taylor (Bill) Oosting, Cameron (Emalee) Fisher, and Mason Herzhaft; great-grandchildren, Owen Fisher, Charlotte Herzhaft, and Lennon Fisher; siblings, Donna (Bob) Scarbrough, Bob (Donna) Herzhaft, Larry (Rhonda) Herzhaft, and Gary (Sharon) Herzhaft; as well as, many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 20th, 2026 at 12:00 pm at Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3040 Evanston Ave, Muskegon, MI 49442. The family will welcome guests one hour prior to the start of the service. There will be a luncheon to follow, also at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carly's Closet - Care of Seventh Day Adventist Church.
