Vernon D. Scott, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. Vernon was born on August 5, 1935 to parents Frank and Julia (Ance) Scott. He retired from Bennett Pump and was a member of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. Vern enjoyed working in his garage and tinkering with everything. He was an avid golfer and even made his own golf clubs. Vern will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Doreen Scott; daughter, Vicki (Glen) Dome; sisters: Gloria (George) Woldring, Betty (Ed) Blanchard; close friends: Tom (Eugenia) Rapson, Angela (Alex) Small, Patrick Rapson; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Scott; mother, Julia Ance; step-mother, Phyllis Scott. A memorial service will take place at 2:00pm on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Ever Rest Funeral Home & Chapel (1783 E. Keating Ave., Muskegon) followed by a luncheon at the funeral home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muskegon Humane Society in Vern's name.
