

Wallace “Wally” Roach was born in Muskegon to the late Floyd and Ruth Roach on June 6, 1920. After graduating from Muskegon High School in 1938, he worked at Continental Motors until the war when he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps and was a pilot on B26 medium altitude bombers. He was discharged from the service and returned to Muskegon where he obtained his license as a flight instructor for a local flying service. It was there that he met his wife of 56 years, Jeannette. They lived in North Muskegon for fifty years where he and Jeannette were active in school affairs. Wally served eleven years on the North Muskegon School Board and several years on the Board of Review. His last years were spent at The Village of Park Terrace. Friends and family will remember him for his many jokes and stories which he shared freely. He is survived by his daughters, Sherry (Tom) Corwin, of Okemos and Cindy (Ron Glosser) Roach, of East Lansing; two grandchildren, Ann (Michael) Corwin Phelps, of Chicago and Connor Glosser of East Lansing; two brothers, Robert (Patricia) Roach, of Park Falls, WI and F. Barckley (Joyce) Roach of Portage and many friends. According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2011 at Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 1860 E. Hile Road. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church or Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence.
