Ada Marie Stemler

Ada Marie Stemler, born on March 20, 1937, to William and Synove Courtnall, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was the youngest of four children. Ada passed away on April 28, 2026, at the age of eighty-nine in Parksville, British Columbia.

At an early age, Ada moved from Winnipeg to Vancouver. She attended high school at Kitsilano High School. Ada was an avid swimmer; Ada swam English Bay in her youth and passed her love of the water on to her family. While in Vancouver, Ada met Al Stemler; they were married on November 9, 1957 and had two sons, Phil and Keith.

Ada held various role in payroll departments throughout her career. Ada began the trip in payroll with a roll at Royal Bank. Commonwealth Construction hired Ada away from the bank. Al was transferred to Calgary and Ada moved with Commonwealth to continue her role within payroll. Ada moved next to Woodwards, Canada to lead the payroll department. After the demise of Woodwards Ada moved on to an equipment rental company.

Ada and Al spend the years before retirement traveling. Together they visited the Caribbean enjoying island stays and cruises. Over the course of time, they visited Germany and Japan prior to retirement.

After Al retired, he and Ada moved to Parksville and were busier than they had ever been. They spent this time with their grandchildren and friends enjoying cards, entertaining, gardening, and showing visitors Vancouver Island.

Ada was predeceased by Al in 2020 after enjoying 62 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her parents Bill and Synove and her brothers Archie and Jim.

Ada is survived by her sons; Phil (Lauren) and Keith (Linda); her 7 grandchildren; Mary (Travis), Sammi (AJ), Daniel (Marnei), Warren (Cory), Chris (Courtney), Ashley and Tia; and her 9 great grandchildren; Beckett, Sloan, Rory, Emett, Harper, Theo, Oliver, Sutton and Holland.

Ada’s final wish is that her ashes will be spread off the coast near Parksville.
