We are sad to announce the passing of Ann N. McLaughlin (nee Kidd) on May 9th. Ann was born in Vancouver, BC, to William and Helen Kidd of Scotland. She grew up with sister Peggy and brother Graham in Vancouver, with summers spent at the family cottage in White Rock, BC.
Ann married John Douglas McLaughlin in 1943. She had her son David in 1944 and a daughter Arlene in 1951.
The family resided in West Vancouver, with a summer cottage at Smuggler Cove, BC. Ann enjoyed swimming, golf, fishing and bridge. Ann and her husband enjoyed many winter vacations in California, visiting son David, his wife Debbie, their grandson Robert and eventually great grand daughter, Hannah. When Doug retired to Victoria in 1977, they both continued their golfing at Royal Colwood Golf Club and spent time with daughter Arlene and grandson Jordon.
From the age of 90 until her passing, Ann resided in the home of her daughter, Arlene Hobson and son in law Steve Hobson in Yellow Point, BC. There, she continued to enjoy many social occasions with grandson Jordon (Lindsay), her nieces, Kathleen Kidd, Wendy Collingwood (Ron) and Karin Kidd and the ever present large Hobson family and many, many friends.
As requested, there will be no service. A celebration will be announced at a later date.
