Betty passed away peacefully in Nanaimo with her family by her side. She is survived by her daughters Meghan and Lindsey Shaw, granddaughter Blayne Maust, and great-grandaughter Kinsley Causton. She is predeceased by her husband Blaine Shaw, parents Glen and Linda Dishaw, and sister Joyce Wilson.
Raised in Milo, Alberta, Betty always appreciated her connection to the prairies even as she spent her life in BC, where she attained her BA in Home Economics from UBC and taught high school. With her husband, Blaine, she raised her children on Haida Gwaii and later moved to Vancouver Island. Betty lived a full life with many friendships, volunteer experiences and adventures in nature.
Join us for a memorial service and reception to celebrate and remember Betty on Monday, March 2, 2026 at First Memorial - 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo. Following the service we would like to invite you to join us for a reception at Legion Branch #256 - 1630 E Wellington Road, Nanaimo.
