Guldborg Larsson

Guldborg “Goldie” Thorbjørnsen Larsson, a resident of Nanaimo, British Columbia passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 05, 2023 at Eden Gardens Compassionate Dementia Care Center.

Guldborg was born in Rælingen, Norway to Agnes Berg Thorbjørnsen and Thorleif Thorbjørnsen. She was third oldest of nine children.

Our mom lived an extraordinary life. Her spirit of kindness has left loving footprints on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

At a young age our mom met our dad and fell in love. This Union created the four of us - her children.

We later immigrated from Norway to Canada taking only a few clothes, our skis and a feather quilt for each of us. We look back at this chapter in our lives with great admiration as we recognize our parents bravery in their attempt to give us what they felt would be a better life.

Mom loved her grandchildren with everything in her and stayed involved in their lives - she was selfless in putting her family ahead of anything including herself.

Her other loves included nursing, knitting, embroidery, sewing, weaving fabrics, planting flowers, baking, and holidays with her family.

She was fabulous hostess and never let anyone leave her home hungry. She was an excellent cook and an absolutely terrific mother and best friend to all of us.

Through the years our mom relied on her unshakable faith in God to get us all through the challenges of doing life.

On behalf of Goldie’s children we would like to express our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to Eden Gardens, Lakeside Gardens and Dr. Dodo for the exceptional care you provided to our mom in her golden years.

On behalf of her children we would like to say, “Thanks to you Mom - we turned out awesome!”

Guldborg was preceded in death by her husband Gunnar; her parents, Thorleif and Agnes Thorbjørnsen; Her brothers, Morgan, Ivar, Thorbjørn, Thorleif; Her sisters, Eldbjerg Meyenberg and Synøve Berger.

Guldborg is Survived by:

2 Sisters: Astrid and Annemarit, 2 sons and daughter in laws: Dan and Michelle Larsson; Fred and Donna Larsson, 2 daughters: Lill-Ann Larsson; May-Leen “Lee” Larsson Kelley.

Grandchildren: Monica Halliday (Matt), Erik Larsson (Katie), Nicole Miles (Damion), Stephanie Smith (Joey), Terrianne Clare, Gunnar Wyatt Larsson-Kelley (Brooke), Sicily Kelley and Amanda Kelley Lay (Jerry).

Great Grandchildren: Axel, Anistyn, Kai, Tidus, Sage, Nola Belle, Finley, Xavier, Kingston, Goldie (her namesake), Lavani, Wolfe and Persephonie.
