Lu was born in Estevan Sask, and while a child she moved with her family to England briefly. Lu returned to Canada while still a child and moved to BC as a young teenager. After Graduating Nursing School, and marrying, she finally moved to Nanaimo, at 23yrs old, to start her family.
Lu, was predeceased by her devoted husband Sid Clark, her spouse of 54 years. Lu is survived by her 5 loving children, 5 adoring Grandchildren and 2 amazing Great-grandchildren.
While Sid went on to develop a legal career in Nanaimo, as a lawyer and then later a Judge: Lu devoted her life to being a fantastic mother and homemaker, and she also became a volunteering legend focused on her community.
Lu volunteered for over 40 years with VIHA Community Health teams, working with the vaccine programs in schools and communities throughout the Greater Nanaimo area. Lu was also an active member of the NRGH Hospital Foundation Auxiliary. Another passion for Lu, was volunteering for many decades with the Upper Island Music Festival (Mid-Island now), as a Scribe for the adjudicators in dance, both on Vancouver Island and across BC at Dance and Music festivals.
Lu was always highly curious and never afraid to try her hand at Arts and Crafts. Lu, was a talented seamstress and could sew anything very well: from evening wear to Halloween costumes. She also experimented in other crafts such as furniture refinishing, pottery making, weaving and really just anything that caught her interest. She did everything so very well and she was definitely a women of many talents.
Lu did not want an end of life celebration or memorial service.
In honour of Lu’s memory, a Donation can be made to: the Lu Clark Memorial Bursary, at the Mid Island Performing Arts Festival Society (www.nanaimomusicfestival.com. This bursary will be used for the Dance category.
