Avis de décès de Marguerite Raymonde (née Marquis) Bell
AUX SOINS DE

First Memorial Funeral Services

Marguerite Raymonde Bell (née Marquis), age 87, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025 in Nanaimo, British Columbia.

Marguerite was born on August 11, 1938 in LaSarre, Quebec, to Émile and Mildred Marquis. In 1945, she moved with her family to Powell River, British Columbia, where she spent much of her youth.

Dedicated to caring for others, Marguerite became a Licensed Practical Nurse. In 1957, she moved to Pouce Coupe, British Columbia, to begin her nursing career at Pouce Coupe Hospital. There, she met DuWayne Bell, and the two were married in 1958, beginning a life together where they were involved in curling, hockey and other sports.

Marguerite and DuWayne moved to Dawson Creek BC in 1964 where they resided for many years. Marguerite (or Maggie as many affectionately called her) was very involved in the Catholic Church there serving in the Catholic Women's league.

Marguerite was a devoted mother to four children: Darryl, Michelle, Janice (Brian), and David (Lyn). She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren—Raymond, Alyssia, Jay, Joshua, Hannah, Courtney, Jordan, Lucas, and Jenna—and a cherished great-grandmother to Ariyana, Raiyalyse, and Izzy.

She was predeceased by her parents, Émile and Mildred Marquis, and her siblings Lawrence and Bernadette. Marguerite is lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her surviving siblings Claude, Murielle, Raymond, Jeanne, and Jacqueline, along with many extended family members and friends.

Marguerite will be remembered for her compassion, dedication to nursing, devotion to the Catholic Church and her deep love for her family.

The service will be held at the St. Peters Church where Mom regularly attended Mass, the church is located at 301 Machleary Street, Nanaimo BC and will commence at 11:30 am on March 20th.

As our Mom lived with dementia for many years and in lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations in memory of Marguerite Bell to be made to the Alzheimer's Society of British Columbia. Please send donations by cheque to Suite 300 - 828 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver BC V5Z 1E2 or donate online at alzbc.org. Thank you.
