Marguerite was born on August 11, 1938 in LaSarre, Quebec, to Émile and Mildred Marquis. In 1945, she moved with her family to Powell River, British Columbia, where she spent much of her youth.
Dedicated to caring for others, Marguerite became a Licensed Practical Nurse. In 1957, she moved to Pouce Coupe, British Columbia, to begin her nursing career at Pouce Coupe Hospital. There, she met DuWayne Bell, and the two were married in 1958, beginning a life together where they were involved in curling, hockey and other sports.
Marguerite and DuWayne moved to Dawson Creek BC in 1964 where they resided for many years. Marguerite (or Maggie as many affectionately called her) was very involved in the Catholic Church there serving in the Catholic Women's league.
Marguerite was a devoted mother to four children: Darryl, Michelle, Janice (Brian), and David (Lyn). She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren—Raymond, Alyssia, Jay, Joshua, Hannah, Courtney, Jordan, Lucas, and Jenna—and a cherished great-grandmother to Ariyana, Raiyalyse, and Izzy.
She was predeceased by her parents, Émile and Mildred Marquis, and her siblings Lawrence and Bernadette. Marguerite is lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her surviving siblings Claude, Murielle, Raymond, Jeanne, and Jacqueline, along with many extended family members and friends.
Marguerite will be remembered for her compassion, dedication to nursing, devotion to the Catholic Church and her deep love for her family.
Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
