Mary Muriel Cowie

Mary Muriel Cowie died peacefully on January 15th at the age of 87 with her family at her side. Muriel was born in Comox, BC on November 20th, 1927 to Leon and Virginie Savoie, who were residents of Hornby Island. In 1980 she left Hornby Island and moved to Nanaimo. She was predeceased by her parents, nine brothers and sisters, and her husband, George. She leaves to mourn her passing her brother Francis, her sons Joe (Charles), John and her daughters, Pat (Chris), Annie (Harry), Alice (Rod), and daughter-in-law Davina, and eight grandchildren (Andrew, Emily, Daniel, Kore, Aileen, Rosanna, Tristan, and Dylan). Muriel was an avid reader, excellent baker and was always devoted to her children and grandchildren. Our Mom spent 16 years in the caring arms of the wonderful staff at Malaspina Gardens whose kindness and dedication has touched us deeply. A sincere thanks to Dr. Vaughn (30 years) and Dr. Forrester for several years.

Funeral services will be held at St. Peter's Church at 301 Machleary Street in Nanaimo on Saturday, January 24th, 2015 at 1 pm. There will be a viewing before the service from 12:00 - 12:30 pm.
