Patrick Daniel Flathers

Patrick Daniel Flathers was Born July 13, 1935 in the farming community of Lindale Alberta . He married Hellen Louise Turnquist June 18, 1955. He left Alberta with his new bride to live in Quesnel where Pat worked at the Plywood plant. Being able to purchase plywood led to the building of 3 homes, that are still very nice looking homes.

In May 1957, Karen was born and in November 1958, Elaine arrived. In 1960 the family moved to Terrace and that led to many business opportunities. Our first son Michael was born that year. By 1962, the Motel started with 8 individual cooking units and a mobile home park was added. In 1965 our family was complete with the birth of Wayne .

In 1967 a dealership for Mobile Homes and R V’s was established. In 1972 after the sale of all the businesses, the family travelled across Canada for two months before settling in Nanaimo.

In 1973 Pat began his 12 year career with Nanaimo Realty, he excelled in his work and received many awards.

Retirement brought a life of travel, golf, fishing, square dancing, building playhouses, garden sheds, fences and treasured time with the grandchildren.

On April 28, 2023 Pats long journey with Alzheimer’s ended at The Gardens in Qualicum Beach.

The family is so very grateful for the care Pat received for the time he was there.

Pre deceased by his father, Benjamin Wilford Flathers, mother, Anna ( Thomson ) Flathers , son, Michael, and his siblings, Glen, Robert and Juanita. His brother in law, Earl and sister in law, Hilda.

Loved ones he has left, his loving and devoted wife, Hellen of 67 years. His daughters, Karen Partington ( Glenn), Elaine Hilchey( Gordon) and his son, Wayne( Colleen). His grandchildren, Saul Hilchey (Alice) Heath Hilchey, Mercedes Johannesen (Colton), Emily Flathers (Logan), Laura Reynhoudt ( Peter), Sarah Reynhoudt ( Max) and Amanda Reynhoudt (Andrew). Great grandchildren Benjamin, Annabelle, Hilchey, Caden, Calvin, Cash Johannesen, Finn and McKinley Hilchey.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday May 13th at Brechin United Church
