68, We lost Rick on July 3rd in a tragic accident up at Spider Lake Springs. It was his favourite retreat for almost 30 years. Survived by his wife Barbara, daughter Glenna, sons Brendan and Blair, and granddaughter Emma. His sisters Elaine, Maureen, Kathleen, and brother Doug.
Growing up Rick excelled in every sport he tried. Especially so in baseball and curling. After graduation Rick took his adventurous spirit across to Europe, twice, backpacking, exploring, and experiencing anything new he could. As a professional, Rick was extremely loyal and hardworking. Spending his entire career of 42 years working for Guillivan Electrical Wholesale. Working his way to branch manager for 30+ years until his retirement in 2019. Rick and Barb met in 1985, and his loyalty to work followed right into the family. Putting aside plenty of personal hobbies and interests to be available for every sports game, recital, and most practices. He taught an uncompromising sense of right and wrong, hard work, integrity, and sportsmanship. As the family grew, a recreational property at Spider Lake Springs would soon become a second home. Although still maintaining a passion for planning other travel, spending countless hours researching trips. Rick gave the best lives to his four-legged best friends Rocky, Cesar, Max, and most recently Lexi and Thor. Along with brother-in-law Ken, there was hardly a weekend not spent exploring every imaginable road and trail reachable on foot.
The support and love already received has been tremendous. Rick will be greatly missed. Have a toast for Rick and celebrate an incredible man, husband, father, papa, brother, son, and friend to so many lost far too soon.
