Throughout our childhood, Alex and I spent so much time together with our family. Some of my favorite memories are the conversations we had about our Memom and how special she was to both of us.

Alex wasn’t just a friend to me, he was family. He was always quick with a joke and could have an entire room in tears from laughing within seconds. I’ll always picture him with that big smile on his face. Through so many moments as kids, he was there for me without hesitation.

He had such a kind heart and brought so much joy to the people around him. I’ll forever miss him. Sending all my love to those who knew and loved him.

Alex thank you so much for being an amazing friend and competitor to me. Will always remember the mini stick tournaments we would have in your basement. Also the lochmoor-GPYC dances after swim meets were some of my favorite memories growing up. I will never forgot your infectious smile and laugh for the rest of my life. At Thanksgiving dinner last year, Alex loved spending time with our dog, Sussie. He was always very close to all of us and was a very kind human being.

Grimmer, man there are too many good memories to choose from. For one, I can confidently say my life at Liggett wouldn’t have been the same without you there. Hitting the lunch time soccer juggle sesh outside the senior commons, cracking jokes in class, cheering you and the hockey fellas on to countless wins, and so much more.

However,  one of my favorite memories comes after highschool during spring break our sophmore year of college. Me, you, and Trevor met up in Naples for a night. We played cards, sat out on the balcony, laughed our butts off, and jammed out to tunes deep into the night. I think my parents made us go to bed at a certain point because we were waking up the whole hotel haha.

You were always a genuine friend to me and you always made it easy to be myself. I’ll always appreciate the times we spent together. 

I miss ya brother, I hope you’re resting easy and shining bright up there. Sending my love and prayers to you and the entire family.

I keep thinking back to those Sunday nights at St. Paul basketball. While our dads were out on the court playing, we had no interest in watching, so we spent our time exploring the empty school, running wild without a care in the world. Some of my most fond memories came from those nights, and I’ll always be grateful for them.

Alex had such a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh that filled an entire room.  Alex’s energy and personality leave a lasting impact on everyone lucky enough to be around him.

He will be missed dearly, more than words can truly express.

Lots of memories spending time with my brother and Alex growing up in Grosse Pointe. 

One sticks out: We were at the Grimm’s house for a holiday party. All of the kids were in the basement, and someone floated the idea of Christmas caroling. I want to say Alex led the charge. So we went house-to-house down his street, ringing doorbells and singing Christmas songs at the top of our lungs. 

We got to one house, and this older couple invited us inside. They were hosting people. It was a little more than we bargained for … but we committed, and started singing Jingle Bells or something inside their piano room. One guy even slipped us a $20 bill. I’ll never forget laughing so hard with Alex, Jack and Julia about that … and showing off the unexpected profit back at the party. He was truly funny and confident! 

I’m very sorry for your loss, and I’m thinking of you and your family.

Alex will always be remembered with great affection by our family. During the past two years, he became a very important part of Daniela’s life, and we know how deeply he was loved.

We are truly saddened by this loss and send our heartfelt condolences, prayers, and support to the Grimm family during this incredibly difficult time.

Throughout high school you became one of my best friends. We were inseparable regardless of the time of year. During the school year, we spent nearly every afternoon together on Briarwood – usually playing pool or NHL in the basement, competitive with each other, but always laughing and having fun. I even spent one school day shadowing you at Liggett, pretending I was from a different state and like I was considering going there - that was so funny. In the summers, we spent our time listening to Eric Church in the hot tub, playing golf at Sycamore Hills and CCD, eating and boating at GPYC, and my favorite memory together – taking The Dougout on a 20-hour boys trip to The Old Club for golf, dinner, “relaxing”, and trap shooting. We even invented our own language & essentially communicated in code… Truly the most fun I had growing up came when I was with you and your family. 

You were a bright light in every life you touched - smart, confident, strong, loving, and most of all... hilarious. I will always cherish the times that we spent together on the golf course and at the DAC doing the legendary tribathalon. I will never forget your infectious aura - regardless of the vibes, you were always the first one to suggest inviting girls to the basement or the hot tub... and I was always jealous that no matter how hard I tried they always liked you more. You were the type of friend that everybody wanted to have, filled with love, compassion, and a goofy presence that was so unique to you. 

I have been so lucky to have you as a friend for the last 15 years and will forever call you one of my brothers. 

Rest easy, Grimmer – I’ll certainly miss you dude

Alex I am so honored to have you known you all these years, I am going to miss all your memes, FaceTimes and you in general. Thank you for being a kind loyal friend and for loving my brother as well
