With deep sadness, we mourn the passing of our beloved son and brother, Alexander (Alex) Grimm, 28, who passed away May 19, 2026 in Cape Coral, Florida. Although our hearts are quite heavy at this time, we have so many special memories shared with him to carry us forward. Alex would always brighten a room with his big personality and sense of humor.
Alex was born in Middletown, CT and grew-up in Grosse Pointe, MI graduating from University Liggett School in 2016 where he played hockey and golf. Alex subsequently graduated from Lake Forest College (IL) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance.
Alex had a lively personality, was a bright student and a gifted athlete. His main sporting activities included a 10 year goalie career with the St Claire Shore Saints, Grosse Pointe Bulldogs, Honeybaked and University Liggett hockey teams. He took pride in playing with such great teammates and relished being on the ice in close games while protecting the net. Alex was also a competitive swimmer reaching state-qualifying times with the Grosse Pointe Gators and summer swimming with the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club for many years where he was active in all the team camaraderie. Alex also played golf enjoying many rounds with family and friends alike in Michigan, South Carolina and Florida.
Upon graduating college, Alex moved to Florida where he embarked on a career in healthcare. Alex worked for various ophthalmology practices in the Ft Myers area and enjoyed engaging with patients from all walks-of-life. His infectious humor and kindness were his calling cards. Alex will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Alex leaves behind a loving extended family including his parents Linette Knoche (Ron) of Grosse Pointe and Douglas Grimm (Sharon) of Naples, FL, sister Julia Grimm of Chicago, grandparents Sheila Schebil (Carmen) of Grosse Pointe, Tom Knoche (Delores) of Port St. Joe, FL and Carol Grimm of Youngstown, Ohio, Uncle Dr. Richard Grimm (Lisa) of Chagrin, Falls, OH, Aunt Kimberly Pavlovich of Grosse Pointe, Aunt Michelle Kanar (Dr. Christopher) of Kalamazoo and Uncle Kevin Knoche (Shelley) of Clinton Twp.
