1938 - 2015
Barbara Ann Hirschle Karst, of Port Clinton, Ohio and Bonita Springs, Florida passed away on April 10, 2015 in Bonita Springs, Florida. She was born in Toledo Ohio to Mary Kurtz Hirschle and Carl Hirschle March 14, 1938. She married her true love Thomas Otto Karst December 30, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio. Their lifelong commitment to each other and their family is a testament to treasure and to emulate.
Barbara chose to stay home when her children were growing up. She made time to volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels and active in Satellites at the Medical College of Ohio (now the University of Toledo Medical Center) where she served as President for a few years in the mid 70’s. A member of the Port Clinton Artist’s Club, she treasured her friendships there as well as the opportunity to create new things. She loved and nurtured all that grows including children and plants. Barbara’s heart was in tune with nature. She had a knack for knowing when an eagle would land in the tree near her window and her spirit could soar through the skies with them or even swim with the manatees as her spirit is doing now. Her legacy of teaching us to give to others and unconditionally love one another will continue to survive her time with us in this world. HWYNO (Hugs Whenever You Need One)
