Betty Jane Toennisson

Born in 1932 in Hamilton, Ohio, she was the second daughter of Arthur C. & Elsie B. Strain. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1950 and attended Miami University. She married Herbert in 1951. While Herb was in the Air Force they lived in San Marcos, Texas and Wilmington, Delaware.

Their daughter, Terri, was born in 1961 and they moved to Columbus, Ohio. In 1963 their son, Tom, was born. Betty was a “stay at home” mom until 1975 when she joined ABN Radio & TV as a part time employee. She retired from ABN in 1991 as Vice President of Operations.

She was an active member of Linworth UMC for 40 years while living in Worthington Ohio. During the winter she was an active member of North Naples UMC. After moving to Batavia she was an active member of Anderson Hills UMC. She did the Emmaus walk in 2003. She was a member of Washington Chapter #195 Eastern Star in Hamilton, Ohio since 1955. During retirement she enjoyed spending time with her grandson, bridge clubs & water aerobics.

Her only grandchild, Parker, was born in 1999 in Cincinnati and he became the center of her life and the reason for her move to Batavia, Ohio.

She leaves behind two beloved children, daughter Terri Freiheit & husband Laurence who live in Berkeley Springs, WV ,& Bonita Springs, FL. Son, Thomas & wife Rebecca, and grandson Parker of Cincinnati. Nephews Douglas Morris & wife Jeanie , Richard Morris widow Donna, & Niece Patricia Goins and many great nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, parents and only sister, Martha (Strain) Morris.

There will be a Celebration of Life on February 11th, 2022 at 1:00pm at North Naples UMC 6000 Goodlette Road, Naples FL 34109, the Service will be held to honor her legacy and celebrate on the same day that would have been her 90th birthday. Additionally a Memorial Service will be held on April 30th at 11:00am at Anderson Hills UMC , 7663 Five Mile Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio 45255.
