He was a devoted husband to Sheri for 20 years and an outstanding father to his son Tony.
He graduated Lely High School in 1984 and played on the golf team. Growing up he played little league baseball.
He started working at Royal Poinciana Golf Club in 1987. In the early 90’s while managing the men’s locker room, Bruce became a fishing captain and started guiding fishing trips. At the time of his passing he was still maintaining both careers. He touched the lives of so many people in his work as a captain and at Royal Poinciana Golf Club. He was quick with a joke and had an infectious laugh. He was the life of the party, a true friend, and above all, loved God and his family.
The man known as “JACKMACK” will be forever remembered for his willingness to help so many others before himself. Jackmack was revered as one of the best, no matter if on the golf course, the bowling alley, or in his early years as a tremendous youth athlete. The name Jackmack is legendary in all of South Florida fishing circles. Known as one of the great instructors and best mentors, Jackmack may be the highest decorated tournament winning angler in these parts.
Beyond his outdoor excellence, Bruce was always very involved in raising money for so many local charities. Bruce’s love of his country always showed he was a true patriot. As a board member of the Naples Take a Soldier Fishing (NTASF) organization, Bruce was most instrumental in the groups success which is known throughout the military as the “Event of the Year”. Bruce’s love for his Labrador Retrievers inspired a connection with local charity PAWS. Bruce was the key figure in raising enough money to purchase one of the service dogs for a wounded veteran. Beyond his commitment to his community, Bruce was even more inspirational to his family and friends. The legendary Jackmack has set a high bar for so many to follow. All of his family, friends, and fishing adversaries will truly miss the Jackmack!
Bruce is survived by his wife Sherilyn Jackmack; his son Tony (Nerissa) Pinero; two brothers Michael Jackmack, Jeffrey (Nicole) Jackmack; his nieces Katherine Jackmack, Madison Jackmack and nephew Jeffrey Jackmack Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents Jean and Kenneth Jackmack and grandparents Fred and Irene Jackmack.
Funeral Service will be held 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens 525-111th Ave. N., Naples, FL 34108. Condolences may be left online at www.HodgesNaplesMG.com.
