Born in northwest Spain, Carlos spent winters in Ourense and summers at the beach in Vigo with his parents and sister. He studied architecture in Burgos and Madrid before transferring his studies to Villanova U, after meeting his future wife, Anne Butler. He earned his doctorate at New York University, where he was a teaching fellow. He held various professorships at Baruch, Vassarr and Lafayette Colleges before he began traveling abroad with his family and investing in real estate. He bought his first investment (while living in Europe) in Barnes Landing in 1981, and continued to invest in East Hampton and Spain, and more recently, in Naples.
Carlos loved music; he taught himself to play the guitar and the piano and composed music. He loved all things Spain, especially his beloved FC Barcelona.
He is survived by his wife, Anne, his two children, Marcos and Elena, his daughter-in-law Jennifer, son-in-law Luigi Saieh, and two grandchildren, Mateo and Camila Saieh.
