

Jeff was born in Chicago, IL to the late Virginia Clement and Charles Cox, III. They moved to Naples in 1950 and he spent his life in Naples. After graduating from Naples High School, he then obtained his BS degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Florida. Jeff held a 42 year career with the Collier County Sheriff’s Dept. rising to a Lieutenant rank. He worked in many areas of the department including the AG Special Ops, Marine Unit, Range Instructor and Dive team. His most proud accomplishments were helping to establish the D.A.R.E. and YRDC programs. He dedicated his time and effort to the youth of the community with the Explorers and Jr. Deputy programs.
Once retired, he couldn’t sit idle. Jeff was a Merchant Mariner and a Charter Boat Captain. He became a guide fisherman in Alaska and Chokoloskee. He also remained active with the Explorers, Shriners and Free Masons. Following in his father’s footsteps, he decided to put his Real Estate License to work with Downing Frye Realty.
Jeff is survived by his fiancée Deborah Jones; soul mate Patty Cox; sons, Jeffrey D. Cox and Tyler E. Cox (Alyssa); grandchildren, Zyliana, Elaina and Bradley Cox; brothers, Greg Cox (Lisa) and John Cox as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Clement and father Charles Cox, III.
Celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens on January 10, 2021 with a reception to follow from 2-4:00 p.m.
