

A resident of Naples since 1976 passed away on August 3rd, 2015. He was born in Milwaukee, Wi. 11/06/1926 to Charles F. & Lillian Welker Zinn. They moved to Mpls., Mn in 1930 and then to Crystal Bay, Mn. After graduating from Wayzata High School in 1944 he entered the U.S. Navy during WW11 serving as a medical corpsman until his discharge in 1946. In 1949 he graduated from the Univ. of Mn. With a B.A. and went to work at McKesson & Robbins and that is where he met & married his wife Marilyn of 59 years. In 1951 he entered the Univ. of Mn. Medical School graduating as M.D. in 1955 Interned at Anchor Genl. Hosp. St. Paul, Mn. Started active practice in Family Medicine in 1956 with Elk River Clinic, Elk River, Mn. Became founding President of the Elk River Rotary Club. Relocated to Wayzata, Mn. Jan 1961 joining Drs. Rieke & Feigal. Here he was also active in Rotary and Wayzata Com. Church etc. He moved his family to Naples in 1976 where he was employed by NCH as an emergency room physician. He became Director of the Emergency Dept. in 1982 until his retirement in 1989. After retiring he continued to work for NCH at their various Urgent Care Centers on a part time basis until 2000. He was employed with Century 21 Oncology until his illness. He was a member of the Collier Med. Soc., Life member of American Academy of Family Physicians, Fl. Med. Soc., AMA and Emeritus staff of NCH.
Charlie was Past Commodore of Naples Sailing & Yacht Club, a past member of Royal Poinciana Ctry Club and a member of Kensington Golf & Ctry Club. He is a member of the Naples United Church of Christ and served on their missions Committee. He was a volunteer physician at the Neighborhood Clinic having served on their Bldg. Com. During his lifetime he was a great sportsman enjoying boating, fishing, tennis, golf and traveling. He loved music, playing his organ, dancing and a good laugh.
He is survived by his loving son, C. Scott of Bonita Springs, Fl. and daughters Heidi Zin of Ojai, Ca. and Tami Wallace (David) of Naples, Fl. Six grandchildren- Jessica, Sarah, Gage, & Kali Wallace of Naples, Fl. Grant A. Zinn of Longwood, Fl. And Ryan K. Zinn of Ojai, Ca.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 14th, 2015 at 4:00pm at Naples United Church of Christ (5200 Crayton Road, Naples, Fl 34103).
In lieu of flowers memorials in his memory may be made to the Neighborhood Clinic, Avow Hospice, or Naples United Church of Christ.
