

Donald Ray Stephen, 79, of Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 17, 1946, in Baltimore, MD, to the late H. Carl and Mary Metzler Stephen. Don and his two brothers spent their childhoods in Baltimore before moving to Harford County, MD, where his parents started a homebuilding company. An Army veteran, he graduated from Bridgewater College and received an MBA from Old Dominion University. Don worked at Ford in Detroit, MI, and Amtrak in Northern Virginia before moving to Maryland with his wife Clemence, son Greg, and daughter Alison to join the family business, Stephen Homes. Don was active in the Harford County community and known by many for his humor, work as a builder, and involvement in local events and community projects. He was an avid golfer who achieved two hole-in-one shots in his lifetime. Don was a lifelong fan of Baltimore sports who enjoyed relaxing at the family farm in Garrett County and swimming and fishing with his grandsons. He was also a longtime member of Maryland Golf and Country Club in Belair, MD, and The Vineyards Country Club in Naples, FL.
Don is survived by his children, Gregory Stephen of Tampa, FL, and Alison Stephen of Washington, DC; partner Jean Ahmad of Naples, FL; brother Harry Stephen and wife Joanne of Baldwin, MD; and grandsons Asher Stephen of Tampa, FL, and Theo and Weston McCullough of Washington, DC. He is also survived by his former wife Clemence Stephen of Havre de Grace, MD.
He was predeceased by his brother Dale T. and wife Betty D. Stephen of Bel Air, MD. The family would love to hear your memories of Don shared on this memorial page.
