Child of Ellsworth McIntyre, Sr., and Carolyn McIntyre, he was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on May 26, 1935.
After a conversion experience at age thirty, he devoted his life to ministry and Christian business. Desiring to enter the educational field, he obtained a Ph. D. from Faith Theological of Avon, Indiana, completed all but dissertation for a doctorate in education from the University of Southern California, a Masters of Education from Georgia Southern University that was completed at Johns Hopkins University, and a B. S. in education begun at the University of Pittsburgh and completed at Bob Jones University. Throughout his career, he was a salesman, teacher, pastor, and principal of multiple Christian schools.
Dr. McIntyre was a champion of Christian education and entrepreneurship, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a mentor to Christian school teachers and administrators.
After a successful tenure as a principal at various schools, Ellsworth moved his family to Florida in 1985 to launch Grace Community Schools. The Grace Community School locations he founded have, for 40 years, served the children of Southwest Florida with uncompromising Christian education and quality child care.
Ellsworth also authored a book on Christian education, wrote many articles, was an ardent supporter of R. J. Rushdoony and the Chalcedon Foundation, and served as pastor of Nicene Covenant Church. He firmly believed that the best way to serve God, family, and country was for Christians to be economically successful, care for their families, and educate the next generation.
Ellsworth enjoyed reading, spending time with his grandchildren, and family get-togethers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia McIntyre; their eight children; eighty-seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and the thousands upon thousands of children who have attended Grace Community School.
