She was born on November 16, 1924 in Webster, Wisconsin; the seventh child of Elsie and John Dietrich. The family lived in Superior, Wisconsin during Elsie's early life, but traveled and lived in many other cities before settling in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she attended Roosevelt High School. During her sophomore year of high school, Elsie (Bobbi) met Frank Preiner and on February 9, 1942 the two eloped.
After World War II, Bobbi and Frank chose to reside in south Minneapolis where they would raise their three daughters, Frances, Valli and Lori. In 1952, Bobbi began breeding miniature Dachshunds. Her kennel, Honeyland Kennels, produced one of the most acclaimed national Dachshund bloodlines during the 1950's and early 1960's.
Bobbi had a passion for gardening and was a master gardener. While living in south Minneapolis, she frequently did experimental growing for Ralph Bachman of Bachman Florists. From cactus and fruit trees in Arizona to her Orchids and Hibiscus in Florida, Bobbi was known for her amazing "green thumb". She knew everything there was to know about plants and successful growing.
Bobbi's brothers were accomplished artists and she had artistic talent as well. Whether through embroidery, sewing, or drawing, Bobbi shared her amazing gifts with her family and friends for many years. Doing craft projects were always a part of spending time with Grandma.
Bobbi and Frank moved to Sun City West, Arizona in 1986 and began traveling. Their motto, "Have time, will travel". They enjoyed traveling the entire country in their RV, especially summers at the Hart Ranch in South Dakota, and traveling the entire world on cruises. Frequently, the RV trips included a grandchild in search of "the big, rock candy mountain" or "lemon aide springs".
In 2005, the couple decided to enjoy the Florida sun locating closer to their two daughters, Fran and Lori, in Naples, Florida. "At the beach" was frequently hung on their door.
Bobbi is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Fran and Danny Bond of Ft. Myers, Florida/Ottawa, Canada; her daughter and son-in-law, Valli and Ted Sauer of Plymouth, Minnesota; and daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Brian Tinney of Naples, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-laws, Joe and Margaret Preiner; sister-in-law, MaryAnn LaVoie; many nieces and nephews and treasured friends.
Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM until time of Funeral service 9:30 AM on Thursday, December 28, at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave. N., Naples, Florida. Interment will take place at 1:30 PM at Sarasota National Cemetery.
As Dad would say, Mom, "see you later, alligator" and we "love you to the moon and back!"
