Dr. Pollitt was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Lycoming College where he was a star tennis player from 1959-1962, and a member of the Alpha Gamma Upsilon fraternity. After graduation, Anthony earned a Masters and PhD with dual concentrations in Sociology and Psychology from Penn State University.
Anthony went onto a distinguished professional career working as a senior research analyst for the National Institute of Mental Health for over thirty years. He received numerous awards and recognitions during his tenure, including the prestigious National Institute of Mental Health Director's Merit Award for Significant Achievement in 2000. In 2002, Tony was inducted into the Lycoming College Athletics Hall of Fame, where he and his partner still hold the best doubles winning percentage record to this day. He retired as the Chief of Rural and Mental Health Research in 2008, and moved to Naples. He enjoyed spending time with his sons, and supporting the Florida Community of Mindfulness.
Anthony is survived by his sister, Cynthia Cecil, of California, his sons, Daniel Pollitt of Chevy Chase, Maryland and Stuart (Christina) Pollitt of Naples, Florida.
