George Kay Pollock (1948–2026), a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather, passed away peacefully after a two-year battle with cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and quiet generosity that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
George could fix just about anything and had an infectious enthusiasm for history—he was always the person you wanted on your trivia team. Born in Huntington, West Virginia, to Dr. Bruce Henderson Pollock and Virginia Kay Pollock, he later moved with his parents to Naples, Florida, where he discovered his lifelong love of sunshine and warm weather.
He attended Naples High School, where he played football and formed friendships as a member of the class of 1966 that lasted a lifetime. George went on to the University of Florida where he was a member of the Lambda Chi fraternity and graduated in 1970. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia in 1974. He proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Army, stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Following his military service, George practiced dentistry in private practice—first in Naples, Florida, then in Atlanta, Georgia, before eventually returning to Naples, where he spent the remainder of his career.
George is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Martha Lyle Pollock; his daughter Laura Kay Pollock (Paul Sullivan) and her three daughters, who affectionately called him “Poppy;” his son George Pollock Jr. (Amanda Pollock); and his devoted dog, Spencer.
George will be buried in Charleston, W.Va.
The family will be doing a Celebration of Life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in George K. Pollock’s honor to Eagle Hill School, which has had a meaningful and profound impact on our family by providing a transformative education for students who learn differently.
