

Greg was born May 24, 1951 in Geneva, IL to Edward and Mary Knott. He married Linda (Meeske) on September 20, 1975. Greg received his undergraduate in Computer Science from Iowa State University and his MBA in Operations Management from The University of Iowa. Greg began his career at John Deere. While at Deere, Greg served for the President’s Private Sector Survey on Cost Control during the Reagan administration. In 1998 Greg continued his career as Chief Information Officer, Global Aftermarket at General Motors and in 2015 he retired from Ryder Logistics as Vice President and CIO.
Greg enjoyed retirement with family and friends while perusing his passion for sailing, golfing, and biking. He had a straightforward direct approach to life and the ability to take satisfaction in the simple things.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Linda; daughters Missy (Shane) Huff, Becky (Seth) Porter; grandchildren Brooks, Harper, and Emerson; brothers Steve Knott, Jeff (Lisa) Knott, David (Sherry) Knott; brother-in-law’s Craig (Cheryl) Meeske, Larry (Lynne) Meeske and countless nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Mary Knott and his in-laws LaVerene and Marlese Meeske.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday April, 22 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1107 Tanglefoot Lane, Bettendorf, Iowa. The family will greet friends beginning at 9 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Redeemer Lutheran, Calvary Lutheran, Clarkston, MI or Emmanuel Lutheran, Naples, FL.
