Harold was born on July 1, 1929, in Billingham, Minnesota, and grew up in Moline, Illinois. After serving honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War, he relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to become an electrical engineer. It was there, in church, that he met Marjorie Ankerman—a beautiful young nurse, who would become his wife of 68 years. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on faith, family, and friends.
After having 4 children, Margie helped Harold start his own company from scratch. Feuser Heating and Air Conditioning began in 1970 in Ft Wayne, where Harold built a respected reputation for honesty, dedication, and service to the community. After retiring in 1986, they moved to Naples, Florida, and never slowed down.
A man of many talents and boundless curiosity, Harold lived life to the fullest. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler, golfer, skier, and hunter. Midlife saw him embrace a new passion for aviation, purchasing a plane and obtaining his pilot’s license. In Florida, he traded his wings for waves, obtained his scuba diving license, and could be found in his boat fishing by sunrise. Always a fierce and fun-loving card player, Harold achieved the distinguished title of Life Master in Bridge. In addition to pursuing a variety of jobs, working into his 80s, he was also always prepared to lend a hand to others. An elder of the church, he served on many boards and was often handyman for friends and family alike. His accomplishments were matched by his adventurous spirit, joining Margie on many of her 300 world-wide tours.
At age 78, Harold faced one of his greatest challenges when he was misdiagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer and given less than two weeks to live. In true Harold fashion, he defied the odds—and medical expectations—by walking out of hospice and going on to live nearly 20 more years filled with love, laughter, and purpose.
Harold is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie; his sister, Gladys (Wayne) Tarr; his brother-in-law, Ralph Bordner, and a wide circle of friends. He is survived by his four children: Mark Feuser, Kevin (Mary) Feuser, Dan Feuser, and Stephanie (Stuart) Miller; his sister, Carol Bordner; and his grandchildren: Moriah (Michael)Taft, Michaela, Wesley, and Yates Miller.
A celebration of Harold’s life will be held on August 9th at Grace Lutheran Church on Banyan Blvd in Naples at 11:00 am with a reception to follow. If so desired, donations in memory of Harold may be made to Grace Lutheran Church: https://secure.myvanco.com/L-Z97V/home
