

Ira “Poppy” Broadman (87) of Naples, Florida, formerly of Bethany Beach, Delaware, and Rockville, Maryland, passed away 7 January 2025. He was born in 1937 in Providence, Rhode Island and is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sandy, two sons, Jeffrey (Kathleen) and Stephen (Lisa), and three grandsons, Matthew, Jason and Ian.
Ira was the 1955 valedictorian of Hope High School in Providence, attended Brown University, and was an ROTC graduate of the University of Rhode Island in Electrical Engineering in 1960. He worked for Bethlehem Steel, IBM, SBS and had his own business as a recruiter. He retired from IMCI in Ashburn, Virginia in 2000.
Ira spent 10 years playing tennis and golf at his home in Ocean View, Delaware before moving to Naples, Florida. Ira volunteered for many years at the Montgomery County, Maryland, crisis center. He also enjoyed his many cocker spaniel dogs. His passion for computers was evident when he helped people with their computer problems. He enjoyed volunteering for the “One Family” at Temple Shalom and at the Senior Center of Southwest, Florida.

A funeral service at temple shalom for Ira will be held Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave N, Naples, FL 34108.
