Irene Young Lemke

Irene Young Lemke, 86, was called to eternal rest on February 16, 2015 from her home in Naples. Irene, the youngest of three children born to Roland W. and Cora B. Young. Irene attended various elementary schools and graduated from the Berwich Academy. Upon graduation she enrolled in the New England Baptist School of Nursing. Upon graduation as a registered nurse she joined the US Air Force. Her assignments within the Air Force ranged from Germany to Japan, however there was one assignment that stood out and changed her life forever. It was her assignment to Clovis AFB where she met her husband, Leslie Lemke. They were married Sept. 5, 1958. She terminated her career in the AF after being on an unaccompanied tour in Japan. Moving to Naples following Lt. Col. Lemke’s Air Force retirement, Irene joined the staff at Naples Community Hospital. Retiring from NCH after 25 years of service. As a member of Grace Lutheran Church she devoted many hours to activities and functions. Irene was an avid football and baseball fan. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her brother, Donald G. and sister Ruth Emery. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Tuesday March 3, 2015 at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Grace Lutheran Scholarship Endowment Fund.
