James Mark Newby

James “Jim” Mark Newby, 76, of Estero, FL passed away on April 11, 2022 at the hospital surrounded by family. He was born in New Bedford, MA on July 2, 1945. Jim met his wife, June as a child and became high school sweethearts eventually marrying in 1967 after June completed nursing school. Jim graduated from Bristol Agricultural High School in 1964 before becoming a member of The United Association Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 51. Jim started his own business in 1978, The J.M. Newby Company in South Dartmouth, MA where he passionately worked until his retirement. Jim also had many interests including, hunting, fishing, boating, and above all loved spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his wife, June (LaRochelle); two daughters, Bethany Joyce Vaughn (Steven Wesley Vaughn Jr.) and Meggan Newby Wells (David Squire Wells); sister, Mary Ellen Newby; three grandchildren, Lachlan Vaughn, Channing Wells, and John (Jack) Wells; and close family member, Thorn Patton.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John M. Newby and Mary Ellen (Naegele) and his brother, John “Jack” M. Newby.

Services will be held privately amongst family at a later date.
