

Born on February 23, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Jim was the son of Charles F. Saylor and Dorothy M. Elliott. He graduated from George Washington High School in Indianapolis, IN in 1959 and went on to attend the General Motors Institute (GMI), earning his engineering degree in 1964. In pursuit of continued professional development, he later obtained an MBA from Butler University in 1980.
Jim began his career with General Motors in 1959 with the Allison Division in Manufacturing as a GMI student. Over the next 34 years, he held numerous management positions within Allison and GM. At the time of his retirement in 1993, he held a leadership role overseeing all GM Engine Plants across North America, while living in Northville, MI.
After retiring, Jim and his wife Frances K. “Frankie” Kahl Saylor moved to Florida into The Vines, a golfing community in Estero, FL. There, he enjoyed his passion for golf and contributed to the community by participating in the management of The Vines Homeowners Association.
Jim was also a devoted NASCAR fan and found joy in travel during his later years. He shared many memorable trips and cruises with his very close friend Barbara Shaw of Fort Myers, FL.
He was preceded in death by his wife Frankie; daughter Michele L. Saylor; parents Charles F. Saylor and Dorothy M. Elliott; and brothers Charles Byron Saylor and Luther Leroy Saylor. Jim is remembered with love by his nieces, nephews, cousins and by those who shared in his life’s journey. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
Interment will be held at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens for Jim Saylor as well as his wife, Frankie and daughter Michele at a later date.
