James Underwood

Jim graduated from Our Lady of the Valley High School in Orange, N.J. He also graduated from Seton Hall University with a B.A., John Jay Collage of Criminal Justice with a M.A. and Farleigh Dickinson University with a M.B.A.

He served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea. Upon his return he became a member of the West Orange Police Department. After his retirement from the force he was employed as an executive at University Hospital in Newark, NJ and Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ.

He is survived by his three grandsons, Richard Underwood (wife Tracy), James F. Underwood (wife Maria), and Ryan Underwood.

In retirement he volunteered as a docent for the Collier County Museum. Jim was also a Guardian Adlidum and Counselor Emeritus for SCORE of Naples.

The wake will be held at Hodges Funeral Home, 525 111th Avenue North, Naples FL 34108 on Friday, August 31st (TOMORROW) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

On Saturday, September 1st, a Military Flag Ceremony will take place at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital Memphis, TN.
