He was born in Niagara Falls, New York, on February 24, 1935, to Dedrich Henry and Irene (Rivers) Burmaster, who pre-deceased him. He was also pre-deceased by his brothers, Donald and Clyde Burmaster, and his first wife, Joann (Myers) Burmaster.
He graduated from Wilson High School and lived in Ransomville for many years. He was in the Naval Reserve and a long-time member of the Ransomville Volunteer Fire Department. He worked for MacDonald's White House Dairy, Vanadium Corporation of America, and Bass Ford. He was Supervisor of the Town of Porter and Niagara County Civil Defense Director. He was on the Niagara County Water District Board, and later became Administrative Director of the District, where he retired in 1995. He was a past president of the New York State American Water Works Association.
He and his wife, the former Sandra Sedita, moved to Naples after his retirement. He enjoyed playing golf at Countryside Golf and Country Club, where he was president of the Men's Golf Association and co-president with Sandra of the Couple's Golf Association. He was Volunteer Chairman of the Champions Tour CHUBB (formerly ACE) Classic and the LPGA CME golf tournaments for many years as well as volunteering for the Shark Shootout. He also played cribbage, bridge, and bocce ball at Countryside.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, as well as his children, John (Kathleen) Burmaster of Buffalo, NY, Jayne Burmaster Hunt of Rochester, NY, Joy (Joel) Spring of Ransomville, NY, step-children James (Michael Treppa) Ramier of Ferndale, MI, Michele (John) Gilbert of Lockport, NY, grandchildren Porter Hunt, John Gilbert, and Jenna Gilbert, sisters-in-law Carol Burmaster and Suzanne Burmaster, as well as many nieces and nephews.
There will be no prior service and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
