

Born in Masontown, PA, to Eva and Louis Wheeler and predeceased by his brother Louis Jr (“Sonny”). As a 1 st generation American, he was the first in his family to graduate from college and went on to earn his medical degree from Temple Medical School. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
He will be remembered by his loving family, his beloved wife, Mary Glade Wheeler, his children Jennifer, Cecilia, Susan, Charles, Glenn, Linda and David for his wry wit and kindness, his love of paperback mysteries and his story about the sunset over Green Hill Pond.
… by his colleagues and partners at the OB/Gyn Group of Manchester, CT and at Manchester Memorial Hospital, where he cared for patients and delivered more than 500 babies.
… by his friends on the tennis court in Naples, FL and Green Hill Beach, RI for being a fierce competitor on the court and a friend after the match.
He was “Doc” to his grandchildren, whom he cherished. Wils, Carter, Carson, John, Eva, Maren and Olivia.
The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff and caregivers of Premier Place, Avow Hospice and The Glenview. He received excellent care and we are so very grateful.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to AVOW Hospice of Naples, FL.
A private memorial celebration will be held in Rhode Island at a later date.
