Born in Walla Walla, Washington on September 1, 1923, Louise traveled cross-country by plane in 1942 to marry John Sheldon at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Miami Beach. She enjoyed an active life, traveling most of the country (including Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Ohio and Nebraska) as her husband, John, pursued his career as an Air Force officer. In addition to her other responsibilities keeping the home running during John’s various deployments, at one point, Louise worked as a realtor in Fairborn, Ohio. When John retired from the service, they settled in the Olympia, Washington area where Louise became an active volunteer, working as a docent for over 20 years at the Washington State Governor’s Mansion, and as a thrift shop volunteer for Sacred Heart Parish in Lacey, Washington. In addition, she was a long time member of the Sacred Heart Parish’s St. Jude’s Guild where she served several years as treasurer. During their retirement years, the Sheldons spent the month of February in Hawaii, where they enjoyed the sunshine and company of many friends. After moving to Florida in 2002, Louise and John became active in their retirement community of Arbor Trace where Louise coordinated the library committee. Throughout her life, Louise was a devoted mother, grandmother, and an immaculate housekeeper. A member of St. Leo’s parish, Louise was a devout Catholic and a member of the Rosary Makers at St. Williams Catholic Church.
