

Born in Havana, Cuba, in 1927 to parents Alberto Gutierrez & Maria Luisa Sala. Luis was born, raised, and met his wife, Carmen, in Cuba.
He was active in tennis, racquetball, and swimming, and had a love for painting and music. Having graduated with a degree in Accounting from Roanoke College, Virginia, in 1947, he worked for General Sugar Estates in Havana until 1960, when the family immigrated to the United States. Locating to Miami, FL, Luis was hired into the accounting department at Polly Davis Cafeterias and worked there until 1977. Afterward, his passion for painting and music motivated him to open his own Gallery and Curiosity shop in Coral Gables, FL. In 1994, Luis and his wife, Carmen, moved to Naples, FL, where he lived until his death. Throughout his life, Luis was an active parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Church in Miami and St. Peter's & the Apostle in Naples. Luis is survived by his Wife Carmen Gutierrez and his two sons Maurice Gutierrez and Ricardo Gutierrez. Along with 4 wonderful Grandchildren & 11 amazing Great Grandchildren. His oldest daughter, Christina Maria Gutierrez, passed away last year July 23, 2024, in Naples, FL, at the age of 68.
A funeral mass for Luis will be held Friday, September 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Peter the Apostile Catholic Church, 5130 Rattlesnake Hammock Rd, Naples, Florida 34113. A reception will occur on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Spirit Center, 5130 Rattlesnake Hammock Rd, Naples, Florida 34113. A graveside service will occur Friday, September 5, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave N, Naples, Florida 34108.
