Mary Lou attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School, Springfield, IL. Springfield High School and Evening Business College Courses. She was Asst. Credit Manager for Biedermans Furniture store for a number of years before moving to Marco Island. Mary Lou moved to Marco Island in June of 1969, having purchased property on Nassau Rd and two garden apartments in 1966. In 1971 she worked in Deltona trailer accounting offices.
An opportunity presented itself for her to be the first woman to work at small Deltona Airport off San Marco Rd. She answered the radio, gave wind directions to landing aircrafts, directed pilots to parking areas, worked as a bookkeeper, rented cars, and was even a chauffeur to many stars and sports figures. When the airport moved across the bridge, she chose to accept a position in the hotel accounting department.
On Dec 31, 1973 she and Donald E. Condee Sr were married and the following years were filled with happiness and adventure. They worked together for many years, building a successful business, Condee Cooling and Electric. They were 30 year members of Naples Sailing and Yacht Club where her husband Don was Commodore. They were also members of Marco Yacht Club and Island Country Club.
Beside her love for her beloved husband (Donald E. who passed away in Dec. 2010) and her children, she enjoyed golf, dancing and traveling.
There were numerous trips in their five seater Navion aircraft named, “Yellowbird”. Trips to Hayward, WI as well as Seattle, WA. Many trips to all of the Islands in the Bahamas (except one), on their 41’ Hatteras Sport Fish, the “Con-Du-It”.
