She was a loving mother and spouse, a lifelong friend, and a dedicated dermatologist. Her energy, sense of humor, and ever present smile will be remembered by all who knew her. She took deep pride in raising her two sons and spending time with them was Mary’s greatest joy.
She was born in Albany, NY, to Richard H. Davis and Sheila Quinn Davis on September 21st, 1965. She grew up in Delmar, NY, was a graduate of Bethlehem (NY) Central High School, Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, and Cornell Medical College in NYC. She completed her internal medicine internship at the Deaconess Hospital in Boston, MA, and her dermatology residency at St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO. For 30 years, she served multiple communities in and around Boston (including the Boston Firefighters annual skin check) and Portsmouth as a dermatologist who was respected and loved.
Throughout her life she enjoyed worldwide travel, athletics, and nature. She served with the Flying Doctors in the Australian Outback. She ran the Bay State Marathon (and qualified for the Boston Marathon). Mary also found solace in quieter moments, playing the piano, walking her golden retriever, and enjoying the skimmers, sand, and surf during peaceful Naples sunsets.
She will always be loved and missed by her husband, Colin Gibney, her sons, Cameron Hayes Gibney of Portsmouth, NH, and Luke Davis Gibney and his fiance Michaella Abugov, both of West Newbury, MA, and her brothers, Richard Davis of Raleigh, NC, and Patrick Davis of Fort Wayne, IN.
A Celebration of Life will be held in May. Please contact the family for more information.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Cure Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (curepsp.org) and the Association for Frontotemporal Disorders (theaftd.org).
