Robert S. Rider, age 91, of Naples, Florida, passed away on March 3, 2026. Bob was born on August 29, 1934, in Stamford, Connecticut, to Harold Edward Rider and Mary (Hull) Rider. He was the youngest of three sons, preceded in death by his brother Donald and survived by his brother Wilson.

Bob was also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Gail (Myers) Rider.

He is survived by their children: Nancy and her husband Richard Beckert, and James and his wife Michelle Rider; as well as their grandchildren and great‑grandchildren: Megan and her husband Christopher Beutel and their sons Ryan and Aiden; Timothy and his wife Joan Beckert and their daughters Allison and Elizabeth; Emily and her husband Evan Topham; and Samuel Rider.

A graduate of King School in Stamford, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania Military College in Chester, Pennsylvania, Bob served as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. Following his military service, he enjoyed a career in banking, beginning with Connecticut Bank & Trust in Hartford, Connecticut, and later Western Bank and Trust Company in West Springfield, Massachusetts. He went on to become a business owner of Hartford Fire Equipment, Inc. in Plainville, Connecticut, and Bishop Ladder Co., Inc. in Hartford, Connecticut.

In 1999, Bob and Gail retired to Naples, Florida, where they enjoyed an active and fulfilling retirement.

Throughout his life, Bob remained deeply engaged with his community and the people around him. A dedicated volunteer, he served on numerous boards and committees. He enjoyed playing golf, taking long walks, and spending time with friends and family. Known for his easy going humor and warm smile, Bob had a way of brightening the day of everyone he encountered. Summers at the family lake house in Otis, Massachusetts, were among his most treasured times and memories.

Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A private family service will be held.
