Scott was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of John and Margaret Keiffer.
Scott graduated from Hopkins High School and went on to receive his BA from St. Cloud State University. After receiving his degree, he went on to start his business, Minnesota Flexible Corp. where he spent his entire career in industrial sales. When he retired he spent time between Minnesota and Florida and then, decision made, warm weather prompted a move to Florida 18 years ago.
Scott was always active with his girls schools and sports and could often be seen doing fundraisers for gymnastics and softball teams. He was also a volunteer at Minnetonka High School mentoring teenagers having chemical dependency issues. Most recently his volunteer work followed him to Bonita Springs and the Make-A-Wish Foundation where he was named Wish Maker of the Year for chairing successful fundraisers.
Scott was also a former member of Minnetonka Country Club and Golden Valley Country Club in Minneapolis. He was most recently a member of Vasari Country Club where he took up the game of golf. He would state that golf, although fun, was a lot harder than starting a business but great for being out with friends.
Scott is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol, and three daughters and sons-in-law, Toni and Edward Deutschlander, Rachel and Chris Carls, Rebecca and Andy Koehler, along with 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Jake, Hannah, Will, Sam, Alan, Gabby, Brett, Blake and Mallory.
He is also survived by two brothers, Michael Keiffer and John Keiffer and their families, one sister, Terry Draeger and her family and a brother-in-law, Denny Kleven. Scott was preceded in death by a sister, Cathy Kleven.
Scott was most happy sitting in the Florida sunshine, reading a good book and drinking a freshly brewed ice coffee. He loved the outdoors and seemed to have a fascination with cardinals which symbolized devotion and love just as Scott was a devoted husband, father and “Papa”. His greatest joy in life was his love for his wife and children. Scott’s smile was infectious and his “never had a bad day in my life” attitude was an enduring gift that was felt by those lucky enough to know him. The next time you see a cardinal say hello and know you’re being contacted by a loved one and it’s most likely Scott saying “have a great day”.
A Celebration of Life for Scott will be communicated later.
