

Shirley LeClair Hartmann, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024, in Naples, Florida, at the age of 94. Shirley was born September 1, 1929 in Dumont, New Jersey, to Alice Fahey Hageman and John Hageman.
Shirley's life was a testament to love, resilience, and joy. Despite enduring profound tragedies, she approached life with an unwavering smile and a contagious enthusiasm that touched everyone she encountered. From her high school days, where she was crowned Queen of the Prom, was captain of the cheerleaders and voted “Most Popular” to her 20 years working at SunTrust Bank and her retirement years at Bentley Village, Shirley's warmth and compassion were ever-present.
She married her high school sweetheart, William LeClair Jr., in 1950 and together they had four children. Their journey was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories before Willie’s passing in 1978. Shirley found love again with Joseph Hartmann, whom she affectionately called "My Joe." Their 1985 marriage expanded her family circle, and she embraced her bonus children with open arms. Shirley was devoted to her family and never let a day go by without an “I love you…..MORE!”
In her 88th year, Shirley embarked on a new adventure, taking up golf and defying expectations by winning the Bentley Ladies’ Championship with her team. Her zest for life knew no bounds, evident in her love for dancing.
Shirley leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Denise Cobb (Brian), Durelle Linton (Gerald), Denis LeClair (Rosaleen), grandchildren Laura Hunter (Nathan), Briana Browne (Andrew), William LeClair, Heather Cobb, and Jennifer Cobb, great granddaughter, Claire Elise Hunter, sisters Arlene Taggart (William) and Barbara Sarvis (Bob), bonus children Karen Gonzalez (Jack), Joe Hartmann (Catherine), Tom Hartmann (Maggie), their children, Christina Gonzalez, Stephen Gonzalez, Heather Gonzalez, Octavius Gonzalez, Joey Hartmann, Thomas Hartmann, Samantha Hess (Luke), Chip Hartmann, Bailey Hartmann and numerous cherished relatives and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William LeClair Jr., her son William LeClair III, her stepmother Jennie Hageman, her second husband Joseph Hartmann, and her brother Jack Hageman.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff and nurses at Bentley Village Assisted Living; Laura, Krystal, Vicki, Michele, Iliana and Ginny and especially Alba and Kade, for their dedicated care.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am, Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 625 111th Street, Naples, with a reception following in the church hall.
