Susan Wells Demidovich

Born on February 8, 1939, in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Frederick D. and Margaret (Bartlett) Wells, Susan graduated from Lexington High School in 1956. Continuing her education at Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, she earned a degree in Elementary Education in 1960. Her teaching career unfolded across various landscapes, including Germany, Massachusetts, Ohio, Connecticut, and New Jersey.

In Germany, while teaching children of military families at Bitburg Air Base, she met her beloved husband, Steve, then a lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Their marriage in 1963 marked the beginning of a shared life of love and adventure spanning six decades. During their time in Europe, they explored 28 countries, sparking a lifetime passion for travel that took her across the United States and Europe, and also to Israel, Canada, Africa, and Mexico. For Susan, travel was more than a vacation; it was a vibrant, immersive learning experience that significantly enriched their lives, fostering friendships across the globe.

Susan made a lasting impact on the communities she called home, serving as President of multiple organizations, including the Newcomers Club, the Home and School Association, and the Wyoming Valley Oratorio Society. Additionally, she took on leadership roles with the Junior League, the Recreation Committee, Friends of the Library, the American Cancer Society, and the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital League.

Devoted to her faith, Susan served as an Elder at the Moorings Presbyterian Church in Naples, Florida. Through the years, her melodic voice resonated in her home church choirs in Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Music brought her immense joy, and she delighted in participating in Gilbert & Sullivan operettas, performing with the Community Theatre, singing with the Oratorio Society, and ringing handbells with the Moorings handbell choir.

Susan's vivacious energy resonated beyond the realm of music and onto tennis courts and golf courses, where she showcased her competitive spirit and natural athletic talents. Her proud achievement of four holes-in-one stands as a testament to her enduring sporting legacy.

Susan leaves behind her beloved husband of sixty years, Steve, her cherished children, Mark Demidovich and Julie Davis (husband Richard Davis), and her precious grandchildren, Elisabeth Davis (19) and Richard Davis (17), along with numerous cherished friends and relatives.

Known for her caring heart and her inherent grace, charm, and wit,Susan's legacy is a symphony of vibrant experiences, selfless service, and a life well-lived.
