Donald Vincent "Vince" Adams (72) of Naples, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on March 24, 2024, after a brief but fierce battle with a Glioblastoma Brain Tumor. He was born September 12, 1951 to John and Loretta Adams in Evergreen Park, IL, the 8th of 10 children, a blessed group of siblings that remain close to this day.
He graduated from Benedictine University in 1973 and earned his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1979. Vince and Barb were married in 1976, 2 months shy of 48 years, which was not nearly long enough. Together they started their own business, Factory Firsts of Florida, which remains a family business now known as Lighting First.
Vince was a loving and proud father of three UF Gator graduates and all their many accomplishments and was the most loving and adoring husband. He was known for his humor and quick wit. He was a talented drummer, beloved little league and basketball coach, lifelong learner, and respected tax professional and known to his family as the baby whisperer- always entertaining and playing with his beloved grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Barb (nee Benedict), sons, Gregory Benedict (Shawna) Adams, Steven Michael (Rebecca) Adams, and Scott Henry (Chelsea) Adams; Grandchildren, Michael (9), Emily (7), their mother Jenny Adams, Madelyn (7), Jefferson (5), Beau (5), and Cru (2); Siblings, Jack (Dianne), Ray (Rosemary), Robert's wife Susan Adams, Jerry, Jeanne Adams, Bernard (Darlene), Phil, Elaine (Jim) Kennedy and Mary Gail (Dave) Bennett; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and in-laws Jane (Kim) Butts, Bill (Sue) Benedict and Jim (Trudy) Benedict.
Vince was preceded in death by his parents John and Loretta Adams, brother Robert Adams, sisters-in-law Barbara Adams and Betsy Adams, Father and Mother-in-law Hank and Dorothy Benedict.
There will be a private service with interment at Naples Memorial Gardens.
