

Dr. Vinod K. Sethi of Estero, Florida passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 8, 2022 at the age of 81. V.K. was born on January 1, 1941 in India. He was the son of the late Dr. Ganpat Rai and late Mrs. Shanti Devi Sethi and sibling to Ved (Dr. Janak Raj) Taneja, Subash (Prem) Sethi, the late Ramesh (Kailash) Sethi, Satya (Mammohan) Bedi, Vimal (Dr. Saroop) Piplani, and Shashi (Ranjan) Kishore.
V.K. graduated from King George Medical College in 1960 in Lucknow, India. On October 5, 1968, he married his wife Usha Anand. He completed his Pediatrics residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City in 1972. He had a private practice in Pediatrics in Youngstown, Ohio from 1972 to 1999. He was an attending Pediatrician and Neonatologist at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and Tod Children’s Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio. He was an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine. After retiring from clinical practice in Ohio, he moved to Amarillo, Texas to become an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center and Northwest Texas Healthcare System. He practiced Pediatrics in Texas for 8 more years before retiring and moving to Estero, Florida in 2016. He had practiced medicine for 56 years. He had numerous accomplishments, publications and was a vital contributor to countless patient advocacy programs throughout Northeastern Ohio and Texas.
As hobbies, V.K. loved to cook and play the harmonium as well as travel internationally. He also was an avid bridge player and was a three-time bridge champion back in his medical school days. As a Boardman Rotary member for over 30 years, he believed in giving back to his community and was very active in the Boardman school system especially in band, swimming and tennis teams. In 1977, he was a founder and first President of the India Association of Greater Youngstown. He went on to serve as President of the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha America. His philanthropy and charity went beyond words.
While V.K. had a passion for community service, his true love was spending time with his family and friends. V.K. leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 53 years, Dr. Usha Sethi; his cherished sons, Manu (Sangeetha) and Neil (Manisha) and six grandchildren, Sareena, Meera, Dev, Rohan, Raina, and Ria, whom he adored greatly. He will be greatly missed by all his family, extended relatives and friends.
A funeral service for family and friends will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Garden at 525 – 111th Avenue North, Naples, FL 34108 (Livestream Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSDO1WkKbTM). A celebration of life reception will follow from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Club Room in the West Bay Club at 4751 West Bay Blvd., Estero, FL 33928.
