Wayne Gerard Dammert, 60, beloved husband of Kathleen (Kotula) Dammert; son of Betty Rose (Silva) and John Wayne Dammert; son-in-law of Donna (Donaldson) and the late Bernard Louis Kotula; brother of Richard (Marianne) Dammert, Ron (Gail) Dammert, and Lisa (Brian) Dammert-Daniel; brother-in-law of Kristine Kotula-Kintz, Karissa Kotula-Landgrebe, and Kellianne (Chad) Kotula-Petroni; Uncle of Alisa, Dustin, Brittany, Stephanie, Nicholas, Danielle, Kristina, Joey, Ryan, Spenser, the late Sydney, Rachel, Ashley, Megan, Kayleigh, and Bradley; and loved and respected by numerous relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.), friends, and business colleagues, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 following an extended illness.
Wayne grew up in Alexandria, Kentucky and was a graduate of Bishop Brossart High School, where he excelled in academics and held records in track and field, and basketball. He attended Southern Ohio College on a basketball scholarship. Following graduation from college, Wayne moved to Stuart, Florida, where he enjoyed a career in resort management and community association management before moving to Naples, Florida, where he continued his career in community association management, which spanned more than 30 years.
Wayne enjoyed sports of all kinds and was active playing softball and golfing.
Wayne was a dedicated volunteer with Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida since its inception more than 12 years ago, serving in many areas including fostering and adoption of rescued Goldens, doing transports, making home visits for potential adopters, and serving with his wife Kathleen as the rescue’s events coordinator.
Wayne was a faithful man of God. Throughout his courageous battle with cancer, he longed for people to know and love God as he did.
Visitation will be Friday, September 3, 2021 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Hodges Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave. N, Naples, FL, 34108
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 9:00 AM at First Baptist Church Naples, 3000 Orange Blossom Dr., Naples, FL, 34109, with a graveside service following at Hodges Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave. N, Naples, FL, 34108
A Celebration of Life, Wayne’s wish for his family and friends to gather and share wonderful memories, will be scheduled for a later date. The family will provide notice of the Celebration of Life upon confirmation of the date and location.
