

Albert J. Guillot, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. He was born on May 20, 1932, in the Town of Simmesport, LA, Avoyelles Parish, to the late Pierre and Lena Lacour Guillot, Sr. He graduated from Simmesport High School in 1950. Albert enlisted in the U. S. Army (45th Infantry Division “Thunderbirds”) following graduation and served during the Korean War. He finished out his military career at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, MD and on January 23, 1954, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth J. Preston.
Mr. Guillot graduated from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA, in 1959 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was also a Registered Professional Engineer. Following graduation, Albert and Elizabeth moved to the New Orleans, LA, area where he worked for over 40-years with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, Operations Division.
Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Guillot; brothers, Pierre Guillot, Jr., Jimmy Dale Guillot and Pete Guillot; sisters, Ruth Mary DeBlanc and Anna Belle Couvillon.
He is survived by a brother, Willie Guillot; a daughter, Janet Matthews (Thomas) of Scott, LA; four sons, Bruce Guillot, Sr. (Dianne), William Guillot, Robert Guillot (Sandy), and Richard Guillot, all of the New Orleans, LA, area; and six grandchildren, Jessica Rachal (Ryan), Lafayette, LA, and Joseph Matthews, Dawn Ippolito (Daniel) and Bruce Guillot, Jr. (Fiancé, Amanda), Lauren Guillot (Fiancé, Stanley) and Kyle Guillot, all of the New Orleans, LA, area; and four great-grandchildren, Nora and Layla Ippolito, Elizabeth and Noah Rachal; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The services will be on Monday, August 4, 2025 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. The visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. until the mass at 2:00 p.m. The interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum, which is on the same grounds as the funeral home.
