Alice "Honey" Carruth Mayeur

Alice “Honey” Carruth Mayeur, born on October 28, 1920 in Madisonvillie, LA, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, October 28, 2021 on her 101st birthday. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of New Orleans, “ Keen-Agers Club” and Cresent City Depression Glass Society. She was a lover of all things family, faith, food, and flowers; she was an avid glass and antique collector. She always, always, always had a song in her heart to share. Honey was fully present in every moment, and if you were in her presence, you felt like the most special person in the world.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Aubrey Louis Mayeur Jr., married on Valentine’s day 1947; parents, Ellison McGehee and Meta Easley Carruth; brothers, Hulbert (Buddy) Carruth and Lowry Grambling Carruth.

She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Mayeur Dalen (Jim); Pamela Mayeur Pfingsten; Michelle Mayeur Treen (David); son, Glenn Patrick Mayeur (Laura Hornaday); grandchildren, Dionne C. Schoen; Ryan C. Moran (Rainna); Rachel T. Turnage (Benton); Brett Crist; Allison T. Morrison (Millard); and David C. Treen III; great grandchildren, Jaden, Wesley and Chase Moran; Sarah Schoen; Benton Jr., Crawford , and William Turnage; Her “Babydoll”, Tinkerbell.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Ms. Betty Leon, Caroline Steward Corona, Brandy, and Kerry Reardon. The family would also like to thank Jeff, Eric, Lilly, and Pam of Notre Dame Hospice.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM followed by a service at 11:00AM. Burial will be at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Kentwood, LA.
