Alvaro “Al” Francisco Prieto, 65, passed away on January 26, 2026. Born on January 1, 1961, in Havana, Cuba, Al carried his Cuban heritage with deep pride, woven into the way he approached life with courage, enthusiasm, and curiosity.
Al made his home in Kenner, Louisiana, where he built a life centered on family, innovation, and hard-earned independence. A graduate of Brother Martin High School and the University of New Orleans, he was a lifelong entrepreneur who thrived on turning ideas into reality. His business ventures, including CC Systems and Adrenaline Hobby, reflected his love of novelty and his willingness to take risks in pursuit of something new.
Al had a gift for diving headfirst into his passions. Whether it was auto racing, computer science, RC car racing, or precision shooting, he pursued each with intensity, focus, and genuine joy. His desire to live life to the fullest was infectious, often pulling others along for the ride. He valued curiosity, determination, and the belief that the best lessons come from trying, even when the outcome was uncertain.
Al is survived by his son, Alvaro Theodore Prieto, his wife, Marissa, and their three children Audrey, Sutton, and Rogan; his daughter, Meghan Prieto Madden, and her husband, Flynn; as well as his sisters, Rosie, Carmen, and Mary. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvaro Manuel Prieto, and his mother, Rosario Hernandez Sol.
A celebration of Al’s life will be held on February 6, 2026, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans, Louisiana, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with a private burial to follow.
Al will be remembered for his fearless spirit, restless curiosity, and the unmistakable energy he brought into every room. His legacy lives on in the risks he took, the passions he chased, and the family who carries his story forward.
