Leigh, myself, and everyone here at Colonial will miss your mom tremendously.  She was a little sweetheart and we loved her dearly.

I met your dear mom in the last four weeks of her long life. My mom was admitted to the same nursing facility after a fall in mid-October. I visit my mom often, and your dear mother, Mrs. Amelia, sat at my mom's table in the common area. Her beautiful red hair and constant smile caught my eye. I started to wave to her at first and she lit up. From that point on I always made a point to stop and talk with her. I could not understand all of what she said as she struggled with her speech, but she talked with so much excitement about her daughter, husband and grandmother. She would grab my hand and I would let her tell me all she wanted to tell me about these special people in her life. Once she told me she loved my dimples, which made me smile. 

On several occasions I had left a tough day at work only to see Mrs. Amelia's smile. Each time I gave her my time she left more to my soul than I could have ever imagined. I would think of her constant cheeriness the next day at work, and I could put things in perspective. Her nurse loved your mom and we often spoke about Mrs. Amelia. Your mom was her patient for over six years I believe and we both chuckled several times about how adorably precious and special she was.  Most importantly, I had the privilege to be there at the very night your mom passed away. The rosary was being said in the common area, and it was a peaceful feeling. I had asked the nurse about her and she said dear Mrs. Amelia was dying. I was saddened in my heart to hear that but the rosary brought a sense of peace that overcame me.  After a half hour or so of visiting with my mom, still hearing the prayers in the background, her nurse saw me and whispered that Mrs. Amelia had passed away just a few moments before. We both got quiet and said we could not believe our angel was gone. We both teared up because of how she touched our hearts by just being her joyous self.
Stephanie, I thought I should take the time to let you know that even in your mom's last days she made a big difference in others' lives, even those she just met like me.  As I drove home the evening she passed, I noticed the most beautiful pinkish and blue sky I have ever seen. It reminded me of your mom's pretty red hair and happy face. I knew then your mom's loving smile was eternal now. God bless you on your loss, and please know I will never forget dear Mrs. Amelia.

Stephanie, although I never met your mother, I felt I knew her through our friendship.  I have always enjoyed your stories of her, and growing up in New Orleans.  Loving peace to you and yours.

Hey lil Stephanie, so very sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved mother.  Please know that our hearts and prayers are with you at this time.  And I am praying for God's healing angels of mercy to send peace into your heart ~ hugs little cousin <3 Maria Vergona Perdue and family

We are very sorry about the passing of your Mother. Her and your Father were special people in my life; especially when I was a young child. Our prayers are with you and them.
