

Annette Gansar, age 91, passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at her home in Metairie, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Herbert Gansar. She was the devoted mother of Dr. Gary Fishel Gansar [Corinne Sampite Gansar], Debbie Gansar LaCombe [Robert LaCombe], and Gregory Gansar. She was the former mother-in-law of Stacey Gansar, grandmother of Morgan LaCombe Young [Jesse Schillesci Young], Ashton Gansar Collins [Daniel Michael Collins], Evan Taylor LaCombe [Jennifer Lark LaCombe], Brittany Gansar McCarty [Ryan Michael McCarty], Cory Alison Gansar, Graham Sampite Gansar, and Griffin Forbes Gansar, great grandmother of Eli Landon Young, Blake Taylor Young, Hunter Reid LaCombe, Harper Del McCarty, Graydon Herbert Collins, and Jace Daniel McCarty. Annette was born in Houston, Texas, the daughter of Flora and Harold “Harry” Solomon, sister of the late Lois Solomon Schultz [Ben Shultz], the late Doris Solomon Steinberg [Calvin Steinberg], and the late Sylvia Solomon Isenberg [Lou Isenberg]. Mrs. Gansar was a graduate of San Jacinto High School in Houston, Texas and worked in New Orleans as an Avon Lady and secretary at Offset Printing Company, and a salesperson for the Foley Department Store in Houston. She served as president of the Bridgedale Elementary School Coop Club, Den Mother of Cub Scout Troop 227 Den 10, and she was active in the Gates of Prayer Temple Sisterhood as well as the New Orleans chapter of B’nai B’rith. During her life, her passions included sewing, cooking, gardening, watching Judge Judy and caring for her dogs and birds.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, New Orleans on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM followed by services at 10:00. Interment will follow in Gates of Prayer Cemetery, 1428 Joseph Street, New Orleans at 11:30 AM.
